At Print on Paper our mission is to allow anyone to print their own news. Everyone has great things to say and newspapers are a great way shout about it.
Description
Online newsprint specialists Print on Paper are teaming up with print curators People of Print to bring you the Folio Zine Awards 2017.The Folio Zine Awards 2017 is a competition that will see entrants design and upload a portfolio in the format of Print on Paper’s Paper Zine. The Paper Zine is an A3 sheet folded twice to make an A5 booklet, made up of five pages (four A5 pages, one A3 page overleaf).
A panel of expert judges made up of industry professionals plus Print on Paper & People of Print themselves will judge the competition, with the winners to be announced at an event at the end of October.
Prizes include vouchers for Print on Paper, a one-year subscription to Posterzine[Symbol], and a People of Print book. The value of the vouchers is £100, £250, and £1,000 for third, second, and first prize respectively. The winner will also see their work featured in Print on Paper sample packs, sent to hundreds of business and individuals every month.
The judges are: Alex Econs, (founder of Everpress and ICON Printing), Anthony Sheret & Edd Harrington (founders of Colophon), Bryony Lloyd (managing director at Antenne Books), Professor Lawrence Zeegen (Dean of the School of Design at Ravensbourne in London), Roderick Mills (multiple award-winning artist, illustrator, educator, writer and curator). Bryony Lloyd is the managing director at Antenne Books, a distributor for independent publishers. Established in London in 2010, Antenne Books distributes publications on art, photography, design, illustration, theory, writing, fashion and culture.

Lawrence ZEEGEN
Professor Lawrence Zeegen is Dean of the School of Design at Ravensbourne in London. Lawrence has taught and lectured internationally in over 20 countries and worked with clients that include major international newspapers, magazines, book publishers, design studios and advertising agencies. Lawrence is a nine-times published author, and is a member of the UK’s Design Council Sounding Board, trustee of both the De Le Warr Pavilion and the Creative Conscious Awards and a former trustee of D&AD. Lawrence has twice been appointed to the Executive Board of ico-D, the International Council of Design.

Roderick Mills is a multiple award-winning Artist, Illustrator, Educator, Writer and Curator. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, having worked in editorial, publishing, corporate literature, and advertising for the likes of Penguin Books, the BBC, Pentagram Design, The Design Museum, The New York Times, and The New Yorker.Roderick is also an International Award winning film-maker, Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Illustration at University of Brighton. He is also co-founder of the Mokita Illustration Forum, and is Deputy Chairman of the Association of Illustrators.
