El Ecuador Poster Bienal® es un concurso internacional y un Congreso Internacional de Comunicación Visual enfocado en valores culturales, sociales, académicos y profesionales.
Description
A dream to realityThe Ecuador Poster Bienal was born from the dream of Christopher Scott and Santiago Gómez in 2015, thinking of creating a platform to promote Ecuadorian design on the international stage
From there, they began to work on the jury selection that included design icons such as Jessica Walsh, Lex Drewinski, Stephan Bundi, Luba Lukova and others.
After alot of work, alliances were created with different national and international organizations. Finally the call for posters was launched in September 2015 which had a great reception from the public. A total of 9620 posters were received from 84 countries around the world.
At the end of September 2016, the first edition of the Ecuador Poster Bienal was inaugurated which included exhibitions, conferences, and workshops with some of the modern day design legends such as Andrew Lewis, Mario Fuentes, Jean Benoit-Levy, Richard Doubleday and Javier Pérez.
During the opening ceremony at the Cultural Center of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador in Quito. Nearly one thousand posters were exhibited including works by Milton Glaser, Peter Bankov, Michal Batory, Erich Brechbühl and the famous Che Guevara poster by Jim Fitzpatrick.
After this success the Ecuador Poster Bienal team decided that the exhibition deserved to be in other cities in Ecuador and around the world. From there the Ecuador Poster Bienal exhibition took place in 5 different locations in Ecuador. In addition, thanks to Anna Kłos (Retroavangarda) it was possible to have the Post-Ecuador Poster Bienal exhibition in Lubin, Poland and in the city of posters Warsaw, Poland.
The Ecuador Poster Bienal seeks to be one of the most important events of design and visual communication in Latin America and the world, to create an impact on society and change what we think about the things we see.
