About
The purpose of Kaira Looro Architecture Competition is to create architectural projects for the territory of Sedhiou, Senegal, as an opportunity for development as a result of the implementation of the humanitarian project Balouo Salo, in the Tanaff valley. The architecture principles which condition the competition are traceable sustainable self-building, dedicated to meeting the humanitarian needs through design experiments and methods aimed at the development of the territory and local economies. The organizer operate in Senegal in international cooperation project "Balouo Salo - A Bridge for Life”, based on cultures and traditions, making unique use of materials, technologies and construction methods integrated.

A tributeHundred-years old cultures give birth to Communities, being transmitted through rhymes of those who are narrating it and interpretating tha past through wisdom. One’s accomplishments result from rituals and metamorphosis, bonding the human being to its own roots through dance, history, music, colours, flavours, materials and landscapes.
